The airline CityJet has announced it is to discontinue its route between London City and Edinburgh.
In a statement regarding the change, CityJet stated that, after consultation, the route "is no longer a commercially viable option for the airline". CityJet will still run its other services, such as the flight between London City and Dundee.
Flights from the airline on this route, currently running four times a day, will no longer operate from October 26th. Tickets after this date will not be available; passengers who have already purchased seats will be offered a full refund or booked onto a different airline.
The cancellation of this service leaves British Airways (BA) as the only airline connecting the two major airports. BA currently has nine flights on the route each weekday, with one on Saturday and four on Sunday.
CityJet originally took over operation of the route in 2007.
