It seems barely a day goes by without fresh concerns about the viability of the High Speed 2 (HS2) project being raised.
Residents who live along the proposed line have spoken out against the development, while MPs and campaigners have questioned the environmental impact of the multi-billion pound line.
The London Assembly has called for a review of the situation, as it feels the environmental, economic and financial impacts of the route have not yet been fully quantified.
Members of the group said they were not against the idea of high-speed railway services, but they are worried the current design is flawed and that costs could spiral out of control.
Valerie Shawcross - chair of the assembly's Transport Committee - thinks there are many questions about the value for money offered by HS2 at the moment.
"Proposals for linking with HS1 are also unacceptable as this development would halt future development of the popular North London Line," she commented.
