Edinburgh Airport 'is the best in Europe'

13 June 2013/Categories: Industry News

Edinburgh Airport had a successful evening at a prestigious prize-giving in Istanbul, landing the Best Airport in Europe accolade for facilities that handle between five million and ten million passengers a year.

It is the third time in a row the airport scooped this particular gong at the ACI Europe Best Airport Awards.

Aside from positive passenger satisfaction ratings, judges were impressed by the amount of money and effort the airport has committed to providing new routes to and from the Scottish capital.

Bosses at the aviation facility confirmed earlier this week (June 11th) that May was a record month for passenger traffic, with more than 906,000 people using the airport - a 7.4 per cent increase on the corresponding period in 2012.

Chief executive at the airport Gordon Dewar said that landing a hat-trick of prizes from the ACI Europe Best Airport Awards was "truly outstanding".

"This award is testament to the hard work of all involved who make Edinburgh Airport the place where Scotland meets the world," he remarked.
