Heathrow chiefs have high hopes for Terminal 2

06 June 2013/Categories: Industry News

The new £2.5 billion Terminal 2 building at Heathrow Airport is shaping up well and is on course to open on June 4th 2014.

Bosses at the facility confirmed it will be finished by November 2013 and then six months of rigorous testing will take place.

Once it is up and running, the terminal will be able to accommodate 20 million passengers a year and will be home to 23 Star Alliance airlines.

Heathrow is currently the busiest airport on earth, but aviation hubs in Asia and the Middle East are quickly catching up and experts are worried that plans to add another much-needed runway at the London-based complex might not get off the ground.

Nevertheless, Heathrow development director John Holland-Kaye believes the new Terminal 2 project will ensure the airport maintains its status as a world-class facility.

"This next step in Heathrow's transformation will deliver a better journey for passengers, a more efficient and reliable infrastructure for airlines and additional jobs, trade and economic growth for the UK," he remarked.
