Merseyside’s second-biggest bus operator, Stagecoach is reporting a rise in demand for its university bus passes.

Stagecoach Merseyside & South Lancashire has seen ticket sales for its new Unirider Plus pass rise by 24.2% in Liverpool and by 116% in Chester since the pass launched in September last year.

The Merseyside Unirider Plus offers unlimited travel on Stagecoach services in Merseyside and Cheshire including Liverpool, Wirral, Southport, St Helens, Chester and Ellesmere Port.

The pass, which is valid anytime, seven days a week, is available to students and staff attending the University of Liverpool, Liverpool Hope University, Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Chester.

Elisabeth Tasker, managing director of Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire, said: 'Our Unirider Plus pass is a straightforward, low cost catch-all ticket which covers a wide geographic area.

'Students can easily travel to study and to work, while also easily accessing the great social and leisure opportunities that Merseyside and Cheshire have to offer, all on one ticket with no time restrictions.
