An underground cinema is coming soon to Charing Cross Station to celebrate the 24-hour opening of the Tube.

The pop-up hosted by Underground Film Club will be held at the end of May.

The disused station served as a film set for Skyfall and Paddington but has been closed to the public since 1999 when the Jubilee Line was extended.

British Film Institute classics on the bill include Cinema Paradiso, Some Like it Hot, Casablanca, Blade Runner and Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Other screenings include Paddington, Strangers on a Train and American Werewolf in London.

There will be about 100 tickets per screening with popcorn stands, hot dog stands and directors' chairs erected in the concourse and platforms.

Gerry Cottle Jnr from Underground Film Club said: 'We are very excited about London's first 24 hour Tube - a service that will be hugely beneficial to the film industry.'

'These screenings will engage London's many film-lovers in the possibilities that the night Tube will bring and highlight the role that the Underground plays in supporting the city's cinema industry,' Gareth Powell from London Underground added.

Transport for London said the all night Tube which starts in September could reduce journey times by about 20 minutes on average with some journeys being sped up by an hour.
