When it comes to electric vehicles, the Wrightbus philosophy has always been based on providing customers with a wide choice of proven technology, developed to international standards.
Specific projects now in product development include both StreetLite and, more latterly, StreetDeck in ‘Electrocity’ format - both products have integral chassis platforms which have been designed from the outset to have the potential to be powered by hybrid or pure electric systems, as well as conventional diesel in combination with Micro Hybrid technology.
The ‘Electrocity’ offerings can be deployed on single deck product platforms and comprise a choice of three interoperable ‘green’ technology platforms namely Induction Power Transfer (IPT), Conduction charging via Pantograph (Rapid Charge) and Hybrid Power with EV mode and range extender (for Overnight charge). Double deck product platforms are available with two options, IPT and Rapid Charge.
The ‘Electrocity’ choices are supplemented with expert advice and support from the company’s dedicated alternative driveline business unit meaning a supreme product solution can be individually tailored for the unique requirements of each customer’s specific vehicle operation.
Wrightbus has been delivering a wide range of low emission solutions for the best part of a decade. This learning gives the company an unparalleled level of experience and capability in the design, development and deployment of both hybrid electric and ‘full’ electric buses in a number of different types of operation.
Operators require scope to choose what best suits their particular operational needs and circumstances and how they want to approach the distance/batteries/passenger capacity equation.
Wrightbus not only has the unique knowledge to advise the relative merits of ‘plug in’, inductive or conductive charging but also crucially, this capability and experience extends to in-service support, which is vital in determining the success or otherwise of implementing ground-breaking and high profile ‘green vehicle’ projects.
