Barclays and Moore Stephens, in conjunction with specialist sector research agency Analytiqa, have produced their most recent UK logistics survey, exploring confidence and expectations in the UK logistics sector.
Highlights include:
- 49% of those questioned believe that driver shortages are the single most important industry issue
- There is a 69% overall confidence in the logistics sector
- 37% of those questioned believe the last six months business conditions have been ‘more favourable’
- 41% of industry professionals feel it is very likely their company will make significant capital expenditure in the next six months
Surveying over 100 senior-decision-makers, including CEOs, Managing Directors and Finance Directors, the report paints an encouraging picture for the industry, with confidence among the majority of respondents staying at roughly the same high level as seen in H2 2014.
This is reflected in respondents’ views across a range of key indicators, including prospects for turnover, profitability, investment and employment. Although the sector can look forward with a good deal of optimism, pressure on margins, poor infrastructure and driver shortages remain key concerns.
