Geodis Barbour, an established transport company with a heritage spanning more than 90 years, is extending its offering by joining the Fortec Distribution Network as it enters into an exciting new era in its history.
Perhaps best known as a whisky distribution specialist, Geodis Barbour is part of the wider Geodis group and will now be responsible for Fife, Perth, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Stirling and parts of Glasgow on behalf of Fortec.
It is a partnership which will bring a number of synergies and huge benefits to customers. Indeed the company already provides an integrated and efficient daily service to European destinations utilising the highly effective Geodis network.
It will now mean that customers will be able to use Geodis Barbour for all their transport and trunking requirements both in the UK and Europe from one single platform providing a seamless approach
Prior to becoming part of the Geodis group, Geodis Barbour was originally a founding member of Palletline and has now seized the opportunity to join the Fortec network and in turn further enhance its offering.
Barbour will collect and deliver from its base on the outskirts of Stirling, Scotland. In addition to serving local companies, European hauliers and customers will have access to pick up goods and consolidate them in Barbour’s warehouse.
Kevin Huskie, Geodis Regional Manager for the North and Scotland, said: “We are delighted to enter into a new partnership with the Fortec Distribution Network.
“A company which operates very much on our own ethos, Fortec boasts a solid reputation built upon the strength of its service to network members and indeed their customers.
“And as both companies are owned by parent company Geodis, that connection allows us much more control and the opportunity to work closely together to achieve the same goal of providing a high quality service.”
Kevin said the partnership also brought further practical benefits to both companies – including the ability to streamline its operations and operate from one IT system.
Dave Spong, Fortec Distribution Network’s General Manager Commercial added: “The driving force behind this change is to ensure that service levels are achieved consistently and beyond expectation under one strong, Geodis group.
“We are delighted to welcome Geodis Barbour on board. Apart from being a specialist in whisky distribution, the company carries a wide range of goods across the UK and Europe – anything from food to hi-tech goods and everything in between.
“An established brand, Fortec’s primary aim is to continue building on the quality of its service rather than its volumes, which is very much in keeping with our own ethos.
“There is a wealth of opportunity out there for both companies and we look forward to working with Geodis Barbour as we seek to drive the businesses forward.”
