FORS benefits highlighted at FTA’s Managing Freight in London conference

04 June 2015/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain

Steve Agg FCILT, Chairman of the FORS Governance and Standards Advisory Group (GSAG) and Chief Executive, CILT, spoke at FTA’s Managing Freight in London conference earlier this week about FORS and the increasing requirement for operators working in London to work with enhanced industry standards that are in excess of the current legal requirements.

Steve was joined by Jacqueline O’Donovan, Managing Director, O’Donovan Waste Disposal, and Sally Thorney, Director of Standards, Audit and Accreditation, FTA, and the panel discussion was chaired by Laura Hailstone, Product Development Manager, Motor Transport.

Discussing the benefits of FORS, Steve said: ‘This is our industry and we are striving to raise the profile and image of our profession to ensure that people can understand and value our contribution to society. As quality operators we want to attract more people to our industry and we will do that by enhancing and raising professional standards. As an industry we have to raise our own standards and demonstrate that people in logistics and transport care as much about their world, environment and safety of their children as anybody else.’

The panel discussion was followed by a lively question and answer session covering the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), the Construction Logistics and Cycle Safety (CLOCS) Standard and TfL’s Work Related Road Risk (WRRR) standard.
