Women in Logistics has unveiled the details of the biggest day in its calendar, including a conference with ten guest speakers and a charity ball incorporating its annual awards ceremony.
The Women in Logistics day (June 26) begins at PepsiCo offices in Leicester with a conference on "Managing Risk in the Supply Chain", where delegates will hear from their choice of ten logistics industry experts speaking and delivering workshops on a variety of risk management topics including procurement best practice, contingency planning and meeting environmental expectations.
This will be followed by a glittering charity ball and awards night at the Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire, where three individuals will be crowned for their pioneering work in the logistics industry, and one company will be honoured for its contribution to championing the work of women.
The events have been organised by the 3,500-strong Women in Logistics membership organisation, which was formed to connect, engage and inspire women in this sector.
Women in Logistics founder, Ruth Waring FCILT said: "This day marks the culmination of a year's work for our organisation and we are delighted to bring together so many members to learn from each other and to be able to honour the superstars at our charity dinner.
"We have been overwhelmed with the quantity and quality of the entrants for this year's awards. Our judge, Professor Richard Wilding, had a tough job to separate out the truly brilliant from merely outstanding.
"There are so many amazing women working out there in the logistics sector and it is inspirational to read through their entries and hear about the challenges taken on. We're also pleased that our short-list includes nominees from a wide size and range of companies and organisations, reflecting the diversity in our unique industry."
The dinner will also raise money to benefit Transaid, the charity which tackles poverty and disadvantage by building transport skills and knowledge to the developing world.
