BT Group has taken delivery of 5,000 new vehicles comprised of models manufactured by Fiat, Ford, Vauxhall and Iveco.
The investment has a total value of £80 million and delivery of the vehicles was taken by BT Fleet, with the majority set for use by the telecoms provider's Openreach initiative.
BT Ireland, BT Business and other smaller units within the BT Group have taken some vehicles fitted with new BT Sport livery.
In addition to the 5,000 vehicles, a further 145 specialist cabling vans are awaiting sign-off by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. These will be used for the installation of fibre broadband.
Dave Bowen, managing director of BT Fleet, said now is a good time for his organisation to be making this investment.
"We've had two years of rapid growth and, while we're still growing this year, we're not in the process of on-boarding a major customer," he commented.
