The rapid pace of growth and change in consumer behaviour in cities around the world is providing urban logistics with a serious challenge, and a necessity for innovation. ITN Productions has partnered with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) to produce a news style programme examining how the UK can overcome these challenges and thrive.

Hosted by Natasha Kaplinsky, ‘Urban Logistics – Delivering the Consumer Driven Supply Chain’ was premiered in front of over 100 delegates at the CILT Annual Logistics Conference in Coventry. Industry experts for Greater Manchester (TfGM), Transport for London (TfL), New York City Department for Transport, Clipper Logistics, Whitbread and CEMEX were interviewed for their views on how to grow the industry and future proof it.
There are 800 million cars in the world today and projections claim that by 2050 there will be 2 to 4 billion cars on our road. The full programme covers issues around sharing the road whilst delivering to the customer with sustainability and the environment in mind. Urban Logistics also looks at how population growth will affect the industry, examining the issues around skills shortages and look at how the sector is championing initiatives to improve standards.
Highlights include interviews with Steve Agg, CILT Chief Executive, Ian Wainwright of Transport for London, Dr Jon Lamonte from Transport for Greater Manchester and Stacey Hodge from New Tork City Department of Transport.
The programme also features sponsored editorial profiles on Shell, Oracle, Blue Arrow, Stephen George and Partners, and Crown Corporation to see what businesses are doing to innovate for the future.
