EDF Energy has selected BT Supply Chain to manage the rollout of its smart meters up and down the country.
BT's distribution centre at Magna Park will be used in tandem with a national network of locker pick-up points to facilitate the delivery of more than six million smart meters to both residential and small business customers.
Old meters will also be returned through the same network - and programme director of smart metering and efficiency at EDF Rich Hughes said efficient replacement and excellent customer service remain his firm's top priority.
BT Supply Chain and BT Cables managing director Nicholas Hale said his firm has intended to grow its capabilities and open its doors to external customers for two years now.
"Our overriding objective is to 'rethink what your supply chain can deliver' and that is what we are undertaking together with EDF Energy," he commented.
