AEB launches Carrier Integration solution: from label printing to track & trace

10 July 2015/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Logistics & Supply Chain

Smooth communication with freight forwarders and parcel services is now possible - with ASSIST4 Carrier Integration, the latest solution by AEB, one of Europe’s leading providers of global trade and supply chain management solutions. ASSIST4 Carrier Integration supports manufacturers and traders in their transport processes from label printing to shipment tracking. The result: “plug and play” carrier connections that can be configured quickly and affordably and require no further maintenance.

When communicating with transport partners, ASSIST4 Carrier Integration automatically takes into account their specific requirements and ensures the correct use of documents, message formats, and labels. This prevents errors and accelerates the shipping process. Communication can be easily expanded by comprehensive tracking & tracing which allows following the shipment status during the entire transport process.

The AEB software is designed as a platform solution operated in the AEB data centre. AEB establishes the connections to freight forwarders and parcel services such as Dachser, DHL, FedEx, GLS, and UPS – including all the fine-tuning and interface programming. Therefore, manufacturers and traders only need one single interface to ASSIST4 Carrier Integration, even if they partner with more than one carrier. The underlying Web service technology makes it possible to integrate the solution into any ERP or logistics system, such as shipping or warehouse management solutions. Employees in shipping and logistics departments continue to work in the same system as before, with no change to the workflow or user interface.

With the ATC :: Carrier Integration plug-in, AEB offers a fully integrated version of the solution for companies using SAP® ERP systems. It enables companies to generate labels and shipping orders directly from within the SAP® system, to apply responses such as tracking numbers in SAP®, and to display and process shipments with all service providers in one single overview.

The features of ASSIST4 Carrier Integration:

  • Single interface for all carriers
  • Fast, cost-effective integration with no maintenance required
  • Always the right labels, documents, and messages
  • Full integration into SAP® possible
  • Integration with any host system through Web services
  • Integration even without a host system for field offices, suppliers, customers, etc.
  •                  Less hassle when switching to and working with new carriers

Background information

Efficient transport management requires electronic connections to parcel services and freight forwarders – the only way to automatically exchange EDI messages, generate documents and barcode labels, and accelerate transport processes. Usually, companies connect their transport service providers individually through separate interfaces to their ERP or logistics system. If an update becomes necessary, interfaces must be newly programmed, which often results in high IT expenses. For many companies, their cooperation with different transport service providers represents a major challenge since every carrier has specific requirements for label content and format, barcodes, and loading lists.
