RATP-owned Yellow Buses has launched an app for smart devices which enables passengers to buy tickets on the move. The technology means people can buy a one-, three- or seven-day ticket and a new three day family pass using their smartphone or tablet. 

After purchasing, the passenger shows the bus driver the code displayed on the screen.

The Move app runs alongside the company’s Glo card that has a strong user base with thousands of regular passengers across the Bournemouth-Poole conurbation.

With more people expecting to be able to make purchases on their phones and devices, the Yellows are keeping up with the latest technologies to make it a reality.

“This is an incredibly easy way of buying tickets on the move,” says Gareth Edwards, Yellows customer services manager. “The app is free to download to a device and tickets can then be purchased whenever and wherever a person chooses. Payment systems are completely secure and it’s ideal for everyone whether they are local or visitors.

“Our aim is to make things quick and simple and this app allows people to buy tickets anywhere at any time.”

Tom Quay, managing director of Bournemouth-based We Are Base, which developed the app, adds: “For those with an iPhone 6 and above it includes Apple Pay, which was only launched this summer in the UK. It means Yellow Buses are one of the first operators outside of London to be offering this to their passengers.”
