Geodis has opened a new hub in Northampton, which is intended to help the firm centralise its network operations throughout Europe.
The new site is situated on Lodge Farm Industrial Estate in Northampton, occupying 50,000 sq ft of space.
Spanning four areas, it will serve as a cross dock facility for all European imports and exports handled by the firm/
Geodis' existing import/export line haul activities will be transferred from their current bases of operation in High Wycombe, Birmingham and Lutterworth.
Other network sites held by Geodis up and down the country will continue to serve their regional areas.
This will help to ensure that customer service and collection and delivery services remain local.
Managing director of Geodis UK Jamie Cuthbert said: "The operational efficiencies this move presents us with are significant, and we look forward to passing these onto our customers."
