Leading logistics company C M Downton has added a new office block and warehouse to its portfolio in Gloucestershire – part of a planned expansion of its facilities to support its growing UK-wide operation.

The new office is on Waterwells Business Park, a mile from Downton’s Quedgeley warehouse and less than three miles from the company’s main headquarters in Moreton Valence.

The building is large enough to accommodate around 20 existing members of staff, and also provides for future expansion in headcount. Downton’s administration and sales ledger teams, previously based at Quedgeley West, will shortly relocate to the site.

The company has also taken on a 47,000 sq ft warehouse on Ramsdale Road, Tuffley, which will help Downton to service new contracts and manage the ongoing growth in business with existing customers.

Downton’s finance director Richard Downton said: “The new office is the right investment for us; expanding our property portfolio in Gloucestershire and allowing our team to expand into a sophisticated new office environment close to our corporate HQ. 

“We have seen a significantly uplift in orders and new contracts in 2015, so knowing that we are in the position to grow our core central teams and possess the necessary warehouse space is important to ensure we can continue to provide the highest levels of service to our customers.” 

The addition of the new sites follows a number of major recent investments by Downton in its fleet and warehouse infrastructure. 

The past year has seen Downton invest £1.5m in an extension to its Quedgeley warehouse, over £13m in a new fleet of trucks and trailers, and £2m in trailer tracking and traffic management systems.
