Hermes' Warrington hub expanded to 1m parcels a day

05 October 2015/Categories: Industry News

Hermes has boosted capacity at its Warrington hub to one million parcels per day ahead of the peak demand period expected for the festive season ahead.

A secondary sortation tier was constructed at the site to provide the capability for a higher volume of processing.

The facility opened in May 2014 and the 15,000 sq m hub cost £14 million, representing the largest single investment Hermes has made in its history to date.

A further £10 million was spent on the newly-constructed second tier, which will allow Hermes to offer additional support to retailers that experience significant growth in online sales. This will be particularly welcome during periods of peak demand.

Chief operations officer at Hermes Martijn de Lange said: "This additional investment will ensure that retailers can continue to have full confidence in Hermes' ability to provide exceptional levels of service at all times, especially during the upcoming peak season."
