NHS Blood and Transplant has announced the appointment of Peter Lidstone as its new director of blood manufacturing and logistics, effective from November 2nd.
Mr Lidstone will be tasked with leading blood and blood component manufacturing in five centres all over the country, making him responsible for 850 manufacturing and 350 logistics employees.
In addition to this, he will also operate a 24/7 logistics fleet, which will deliver routine and emergency blood products to hospitals.
His past experience includes manufacturing and logistics in the fine chemicals, food and coatings industries, where he led transformational projects and continuous improvement programmes.
Mr Lidstone said he is looking forward to starting his new role with the NHS, where he hopes to help drive operational excellence.
