Middlesex-based City Circle UK has ordered 20 Scania Irizar i6 coaches, representing one of Scania’s largest UK retail coach orders for at least 20 years. The order follows a successful season of operation of 16 Scania Irizar i6 coaches purchased by City Circle last year. 

The latest order comprises 16 tri-axle 12.9m models and four 4x2 10.8m vehicles.

Commenting on his company’s decision to once again commit to Scania Irizar coaches, 

City Circle UK managing director Neil Pegg says: “The feedback we have received from our drivers and passengers has been excellent this season for the Scania Irizar product. The vehicles have performed superbly, and the back up we have received from Scania during an extremely busy year has been second-to-none. 

“When making the decision on our front-line fleet for 2016, choosing to invest in Scania Irizar was an easy one to make. I look forward to these new coaches enhancing further the quality experience we strive to give our discerning customers.”

Scania general manager – retail sales Martin West adds: “We are delighted to have supplied City Circle with these superbly specified vehicles to add to their prestigious fleet and growing number of Scania coaches. All of the vehicles include our ten-year fleet management information package, and will benefit from our bespoke driver training prior to delivery.”

Sixteen coaches will be 53-seaters based on Scania’s K 410 6x2*4 chassis with 410hp engine and fully-automated Opticruise gear selection system. 

The four Scania Irizar i6 coaches based on Scania’s K 360 EB 4x2 chassis will have a 360hp Euro 6 engine, fully automated Opticruise gear selection system and 10.8m Irizar i6 body with 36 seats.
