DB Schenker Rail UK has teamed up with the CILT to sponsor a Master’s degree final year student dissertation.
The theme is ‘Rail Freight Logistics – the role of rail freight in the intermodal supply chain of the future’.
Entering the award gives students the opportunity to work on a real-life project for their dissertation and provides opportunities for them to make contacts with potential employers in the logistics industry.
DB Schenker Rail UK Head of Marketing Steve Pryce said: "DB Schenker Rail UK is passionate about supporting the next generation of logistics professionals. We offer career opportunities through our EuroTRAIL International Graduate Programme, and for the last four years we have employed work placement students from local universities in our marketing and finance departments. Now, in partnership with the CILT, we are proud to launch and sponsor our Dissertation Award giving graduates the opportunity to study the future role of rail freight in the intermodal supply chain.”
CILT Head of Professional Development Shane Walton CMILT said: ‘As the rail freight sector continues to experience significant growth, with an estimated 2,000 containers a day being sent by rail in the UK, this is an exciting sector in which talented graduates can develop. CILT is pleased to partner with DB Schenker Rail in sponsoring this Dissertation Award and looks forward to witnessing the scheme develop.’
The winning student will receive £500 and the opportunity to deliver a presentation at DB Schenker Rail UK’s Intermodal Port Conference 2016 and CILT membership for one year. The winning student’s professor will also be invited to the Intermodal Port Conference 2016.
