Reading Buses is trialling the provincial version of Optare’s Metrodecker on its double-deck routes over the next month.
The 11.1m single-door Metrodecker is finished in a bright orange livery which Reading CEO Martijn Gilbert says won’t look out of place amongst his brightly coloured fleet. “We are thrilled to be working with Optare to bring the Metrodecker into service at Reading Buses,” says Gilbert. "We have a number of double-deck routes and we will be putting the new Optare double-deck through its paces.”
Robert Drewery, Optare commercial director adds: “I am delighted that the Metrodecker is entering service with such a respected and innovative operator. We will be monitoring its performance closely and we look forward to the feedback from Reading Buses and their passengers.”
Optare says that the 10.5m TfL specification Metrodecker will begin customer trials in early 2016.
