London Overground to benefit from new funding proposals

18 December 2015/Categories: Industry News

The capital is to benefit from EU funding proposals for two new London Overground stations.

These new local links will connect Old Oak Common to two London Overground routes and the proposed new stations could support the regeneration of the area, creating thousands of new jobs and homes.

Investing in opening these two new stations also presents an opportunity to create new links with the proposed High Speed 2 and Crossrail services, pending completion.

Funding for this project was awarded from the EC's Connecting Europe Facility and it will be match-funded by Transport for London (TFL), which will create more development opportunities for potential new stations at Old Oak Common Lane and Hythe Road.

TfL's managing director of planning Richard De Cani said: "Good transport links are vital to the successful transformation of the area, and this funding will allow us to develop proposals for London Overground connectivity in the area."
