Delivery service ParcelHero has predicted that there will be a transformation in how packages are delivered this year.
Predictions by the company suggest that deliveries will be made by driverless vans, drone deliveries and bicycles.
Head of customer research at ParcelHero David Jinks said: "We believe seemingly 'sci-fi' delivery methods are nearer than most people think."
He continued: "Greenwich's streets will soon see the eerie sight of driverless vans operating a predetermined route, moving parcels between either warehouses and shops or stores and homes."
This type of delivery service could revolutionise the supply chain in the UK, resulting in potentially cheaper and more efficient methods of delivery.
ParcelHero believes that drones will become a part of the UK's air traffic soon and that aviation regulations are what is holding back their inception, rather than issues with technology.
Further to his thoughts on drone deliveries, Mr Jinks commented on the use of bikes to deliver post, saying that they "will become increasingly popular with operators for last mile deliveries - particularly in cycle-friendly towns and cities."
Companies that are already successfully using bicycles as a delivery service include high-quality takeaway online company Deliveroo.
