Scania enjoyed a record year in the UK in 2015, with its share of the heavy truck market (18-tonnes and above) up by more than two percent, the turnover of Scania (Great Britain) Limited up by 20.4 percent, and sales in many of the organisation's business areas at an all-time high:
- New truck sales: Market share 19.5% (17.3% in 2014)
Market leader in 8x4 rigids
Market leader in 6x2/2 mid-lift tractor units
Market leader in 6x2/4 twinsteer tractor units
- Used truck sales: Up 15.8%
- Scania Truck Rental: Sales up 6.3%
- Parts: Sales up 3.7%
- Workshop hours: Sales up 5.2%
"These figures represent an excellent result for Scania in the UK," comments Claes Jacobsson, Managing Director of Scania (Great Britain) Limited. "Our new truck sales reflect the fuel efficiency of our Euro 6 engines, notably the 410 and 450 horsepower SCR-only models which have been breaking fuel consumption records in independent press tests throughout Europe, and the quality of our products, which has never been higher – a fact borne out by our warranty claims being at their lowest level ever.
"With sales up by almost 16 percent, Scania used trucks continue to be highly sought after and command a premium in the pre-owned market place. Demand for Scania rental vehicles increased and remained consistently high throughout the year, and our parts and services sales have both grown significantly.
"In business development terms, 2015 was also notable for us in that we inaugurated two new purpose-built, state-of-the-art service centres, one in Inverness, the other in Maidstone.
"Looking ahead, the coming 12 months are sure to be an exciting time for us. For not only does Scania celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2016, but we are also firmly committed to continue investing in our network and staff to ensure the level of customer service we provide throughout the UK remains second-to-none."
