Argos is set to extend its hub and spoke distribution network to a regional hub trial to hold more products, including third party products, according to the latest trade statement from Home Retail Group.
The company's system currently supports over 20,000 products in its local hubs, which enables them to be dispatched more quickly for home delivery and in-store collection, reports Logistics Manager.
The system that Argos has been using has seen the introduction of the company's FastTrack delivery service, which offers same day delivery on many of its products.
With these hub and distribution improvements, Argos hopes to reinvent itself as a leader in digital retail.
Speaking on the improvements to the Argos delivery service, John Walden, chief executive of Home Retail Group, said: "FastTrack, together with our now-proven store concession model and improvements in digital channels, drove increases in sales, digital participation and home delivery."
He continued on to say that he believed that Argos' Transformation Plan, which includes its new regional hub plans, will see it become "a retail leader in an increasingly digital future".
