Forklift manufacturer launches new turbo diesel engine

20 January 2016/Categories: Industry News

TCM has launched a new and advanced turbo engine that it will use when manufacturing its range of forklifts.

The engine in question meets the latest emission regulations laid out for forklifts despite being built without a diesel particulate filter (DPF), reports Logistics Manager.

Although helpful, a DPF can result in a large amount of downtime in the operation of a forklift. This new engine results in a much better output of work due to the lack of this type of filter, which was previously thought to have been a necessary requirement to improve forklift engine emissions.

The new engine has seen its CO2 emissions reduced by up to 24 per cent and it also reduces particulate matter by 90 per cent.

Jason Jordan, national sales manager at TCM's Carrylift dealer, said that the new 2.5 tonne capacity ATD engine bolsters the company's reputation as one that manufactures technology for "rugged performance".

He added that not only were the efficiency levels in the new engine impressive, but that the "660mm per second lift speed offers top class performance".
