Egemin Automation has installed an automated storage and distribution system after being chosen by BASF to do so.
The coatings plant picked Egemin's system to be responsible for the handling of pallets and boxes at its main distribution plant in France.
Consisting of a pallet warehouse with two automated STILL VNA trucks, a miniload warehouse and a conveyor system, Egemin's system will ensure that BASF's intralogistics flows can be carried out without human intervention.
BASF chose this automated system as a method to vastly improve the company's warehousing safety.
The site is BASF's biggest in France, where the paints and lacquers used for the automotive industry are used for both vehicle bodywork and repair and for vehicle and equipment manufacturers, according to Egemin.
For the coatings company, installing the Egemin system was paramount for operator safety, risk prevention and the protection of its environment and resources.
After an initial study and test into the automation of Egemin's intralogistics processes, BASF found that it was the solution it had been looking for.
