Ocado expansion plans to go ahead

03 February 2016/Categories: Industry News

Online supermarket Ocado is set to carry out its plans for expansion regarding the opening of two new fulfilment centres in Andover and Kent.

The company is able to open two new centres due to its 65 per cent rise in pre-tax profit and a 16.7 per cent increase in its revenue throughout last year, reports Logistics Manager.

In terms of money, Ocado enjoyed a profit increase of £11.9 million and a £1.1 billion spike in revenue in 2015.

The new Customer Fulfilment Centre in Andover will house the company's proprietary handling systems, which it hopes will add around 65,000 orders to its current output.

The new centre in Kent will be the fourth of its kind opened by the company across its whole network and it is set to enable the company to handle 200,000 orders per week.

Ocado has been pleased to report that over 2015 it managed to retain a 95.3 per cent level for on time delivery service, whilst also sustaining a 99.3 per cent level for its order accuracy.

The result of this performance has seen the company's new customer acquisitions increase to over 20 per cent and its active customers are up by 12.4 per cent.
