Asda takes delivery of over 250 Scania trucks

04 February 2016/Categories: Industry News

Food retailer Asda has taken delivery of 253 trucks from Scania, which will be set to serve its base, chilled and petroleum fleets.

Asda had carefully considered which company it would choose to provide its fleet of trucks and decided to use Scania after processing various areas of their business, reports Logistics Manager.

Speaking on the company's choice, Asda's procurement manager, Peter Hey, said: "Scania won the business in the face of strong competition, with fuel performance and aftersales care being key factors underpinning our decision."

Asda has had a 23-year relationship with Scania so far and the retailer looks to continue this due to the "service they provide around the country, coordinating and providing a wide range of services supporting our cost-effectiveness and our O licence compliance, is incredibly important to our business".

Of the vehicles that Asda will be receiving, the majority will be Scania G-series sleeper cab models alongside 93 G 410 LA6x2/2MNA mid-lift tractor units and 68 410 LA4x2MNA tractor units.
