Wigan's South Lancs Industrial Estate has unveiled a new distribution centre, spanning 110,000 square feet.
The site is located in Ashton-in-Makerfield and it already has planning permission to expand another 70,000 feet, reports Logistics Manager.
The distribution centre will be a welcome addition to the area, as it is expected to create hundreds of job opportunities.
Although there aren't currently any manufacturers or distributors using the space, developers of the site believe that it will be attractive to the retail or home improvement sector on a national scale.
Speaking on the new development, Wigan Council's deputy leader David Molyneux said: "A new logistics centre like this shows the confidence that people are having developing in Wigan and bringing industry to Wigan."
Mr Molyneux added that he felt that Wigan and this logistics park were a particularly strong asset for the north west of England due to their "proximity to the national motor network".
