DHL's new green service to reduce customers' carbon footprint

18 February 2016/Categories: Industry News

DHL Global Forwarding is the first in its industry to launch a new green service to allow its customers to choose carbon efficient ocean freight for their transport needs.

This service, known as Green Danmar, is available immediately and will be offered through Danmar Lines, DHL's Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier.

It allows customers to select a carrier for full container shipping, which offers a five per cent carbon efficiency improvement over the industry average.

Customers will also have the option to add this service to DHL's offsetting solution, which would make their shipment free from CO2 emissions.

Speaking on the service Dominique von Orelli, senior vice president for FCL Product & Capacity Management at DHL Forwarding, said: "We see more and more customers expressing an interest in minimising the carbon footprint of their shipments."

She continued: "With Green Danmar, we are the first freight forwarding company to offer customers a green service for their ocean freight shipments that can be tailored according to their supply chain needs."
