Transport minister visits Norfolk road projects

07 March 2016/Categories: Industry News

Transport minister Patrick McLoughlin visited Norfolk to see how the government's investment in roads in the area is helping to boost the economy and create thousands of homes and jobs.

By building this road network in Norfolk, the Department for Transport (DfT) is helping the east of England to grow and deliver improved journeys for people in this area. This is a major part of the government's long-term economic plan for the county.

Mr McLoughlin met with Norfolk County Council and contractors Balfour Beatty, both of which are working to deliver more than 10,000 houses and 12,000 jobs in this part of the country.

In all, the DfT's £78 million investment into Norfolk and its road network will help to clear congestion, improve air quality levels and enhance the quality of life for the people who live and work there.

The minister commented: "It is about time the people in Norfolk benefit from a road network fit for the 21st century and that is exactly what the government is delivering."
