International door manufacturer Door-Stop has awarded XPO a three-year multi-million pound contract to deliver products from one of its sites to its customers.
The depot that will be serviced by XPO Logistics is Door-Stop's Nottingham site, from there it will truck goods into depots at Rochester and Gloucester, reports Logistics Manager.
XPO said that it completely redesigned Door-Stop's supply chain in order to improve the amount of product it would be able to deliver per month.
As a result, Door-Stop will now be able to execute the delivery of over 10,000 doors every month.
The deliveries will be made via a fleet of specially customised sprinter vans, which will be operated by teams of two, per van.
Dan Myers, XPO's managing director or transport solutions for the UK and Ireland, said: "We're delighted to apply our knowledge and experience in this specific industry, together with our nationwide network, to deliver a solution that meets Door-Stop's distribution requirements both now and in the future."
