On Thursday 21st April the third European Supply Chain Day will take place. The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport is the UK champion for the day and is encouraging all logistics and supply chain professionals to get involved in this unique initiative.

Events will be taking place across Europe and the programme for the UK offers opportunities to get involved both online and in-person. The day aims to raise the profile of the profession as well as awareness of the career opportunities in the logistics and supply chain sector.

Companies who are participating in this year’s European Supply Chain Day include: CILT, CEVA Logistics, Gartner, University of Huddersfield, SpringTide, Port of Dover, Cardiff Business School and Shoreham Port.

Professor Richard Wilding OBE FCILT will also be answering questions live on Twitter at 12pm GMT for one hour. Twitter users are encouraged to tweet him using @SupplyChainProf and #supplychainday.

Dave Zamsky, VP Marketing, UPS Capital said: ‘Supply chains face greater risks as they continue to grow in length and complexity. As a supporter of European Supply Chain Day, we are excited to highlight and discuss this growing issue in our industry as it’s not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’ a company will experience a supply chain loss.’

Becci Worrod, Customer Relationship Manager, CSfD said: ‘CSfD is proud to be getting involved in European Supply Chain Day 2016. The supply chain is a massive area of business with great importance both in the UK and abroad, but it seems to have very little coverage in the current curriculum. We need to inspire the next generation to get involved in this varied and exciting industry to ensure that we have experts for the future.’
