Research shows only 4% of people care about next-day delivery

20 April 2016/Categories: Industry News

HGVtraining.co.uk has done research indicating that only four per cent of online shoppers care about whether their products are delivered the next day or not.

In general, more people are influenced by price, free delivery options and a good returns policy, reports Logistics Manager.

Looking at the figures, this translates to 67 per cent, 57 per cent and 26 per cent respectively.

Gary Benardout, co-founder of HGVtraining.co.uk, said: "With the UK needing 50,000 new drivers in the next four years, the increasing availability of faster delivery options could mean that retailers are unable to cope."

He added that although people might choose next-day delivery if it was an option, research from the company is showing that people aren't persuaded by it en masse.

This seems contrary to many of the beliefs the logistics industry has about delivery options, particularly when considering the work that Amazon has put in regarding its one-hour delivery service.
