29 April 2016/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain

Kuehne + Nagel operates European e-commerce fulfilment centre for Unilever’s B2C business with the premium tea brand T.O by Lipton.

Kuehne + Nagel has been chosen by Unilever for the storage and order fulfilment of its recently introduced tea-brewing machine launched under the premium brand of T.O by Lipton. The service scope includes warehousing and distribution services out of the fulfilment centre in Contern, Luxembourg, as well as a range of value added services. These services include customised packaging to maximise process efficiency and minimise waste. For order processing a pick-by-light system has been implemented to ensure fast processing times and real time visibility of order status. The distribution to the end consumers will be ensured through a flexible network of European parcel integrators that is being managed by Kuehne + Nagel in Luxembourg.

“When considering the fact of entering the B2C market for our premium brand T.O by Lipton, Kuehne + Nagel appeared to be the best provider due to its recognised expertise in e-commerce. The high involvement and professionalism of teams in Luxembourg have contributed to a perfect execution on all steps of the supply chain, allowing Unilever to confirm and develop its growth ambition in e-commerce for the coming years,” states Hervé Pignault, Logistics Procurement Manager at Unilever.

Gianfranco Sgro, member of the Management Board of the Kuehne + Nagel International AG, responsible for Contract Logistics, commented: “We are pleased to expand our global partnership with Unilever by implementing the European fulfilment centre for T.O by Lipton. Kuehne + Nagel strategically addresses the logistics needs of global consumer customers through its Centre of Excellence for e-commerce, which develops state-of-the-art supply chain solutions specifically designed for omni-channel business.”
