Network Rail and Great Western Railway successfully upgraded railway lines in the south-west and in Thames Valley.
This formed part of Network Rail's Railway Upgrade Plan to provide a bigger, better and more reliable railway for passengers and this particular work totalled £14.5 million.
As the latest phase of work, this investment prepared the Great Western Main Line for electrification and a fleet of electric trains.
The multi-million pound investment was also done to make the railway ready for Elizabeth lines services from 2018.
Installation included a new bridge at Broad Town Road in Royal Wootton Bassett and new foundations for overhead electrification equipment at various locations throughout the south-west and Thames Valley.
Mark Langman, Network Rail's managing director for the Western route, said: "I'd like to thank the public for their patience while we complete the latest phase of our extensive railway upgrade programme, which I'm pleased to say was completed on time."
