Network Rail helps search for Landscape Photographer of the Year

06 May 2016/Categories: Industry News

Liverpool Lime Street train station is set to host a photography competition that will show some of the most highly recognised and acclaimed shots of landscapes in Britain.

The exhibition will show images from last year's Landscape Photographer of the Year Award and will open on Monday 9th May.

It's part of a nationwide tour of railway stations across Britain and this first showing will be opened by Charlie Waite, founder of the award and famous photographer.

This is the tenth year of the competition and it aims to show off the best of Britain's urban and rural scenery and it boasts a top cash prize of £10,000.

Network Rail is supporting the competition and offering the Lines in the Landscape award that celebrates images, which capture the modern rail network and the scenery that surrounds it.

The winner for this year will not only get a monetary prize, they'll also be able to take pictures from areas that are normally restricted to the public, such as the Forth Road Bridge, near Edinburgh.

David Biggs, managing director of property at Network Rail, said that the company is supporting the competition, as "an important part of our Railway Upgrade Plan is creating stations that are truly exceptional places for commuters, leisure travellers and for those wanting to visit stations in their own right".
