Over the spring bank holiday (28th to 30th May), Network Rail will be working to improve and upgrade the railway in the Thames Valley and through the south-west.
Members of Network Rail's team will be working 32,600 hours over the long weekend to deliver these vital elements of the company's Railway Upgrade Plan.
A total of £8.4 million is going to be spent on this particular project and it will be resourced for one of the last phases of a re-signalling programme in Bristol, which has been a huge undertaking for the company.
The aim of this particular part of the work is to improve capacity and help to meet the demand of an increasing number of passengers.
Over the weekend, the workers will be installing a new bridge at Easton Road in Bristol, as part of the Great Western Electrification Programme.
Between Maidenhead and Hayes and Harlington, there will also be an installation of overhead electrification equipment. Platform improvements are also planned for this area.
