During his first speech as CILT(UK) President for 2016/17, Will said: “Great change is upon us,” as he made reference to disruptive technology and innovation in the logistics and transport sector. He expressed his belief that the role of the Institute will be to embrace this change and to ensure that it is at the forefront of qualifications, careers and professional development.

Will said: “There will be bigger opportunities, and the sector will become more interesting as it encourages and embraces this change. This Institute has a proud history and its future will be an exciting one as we move into a new world.’

Will Whitehorn is Director, Stagecoach Group Plc and has been a Vice-President of the Institute for the past four years. He is a leading figure in the transport sector and has worked in the profession all of his working life.

Immediate past-President Beverley Bell welcomed Will to the role, and said: “I have been delighted to take on this hugely prestigious role and I will continue to champion the causes highlighted in my time as President: attracting individuals to the sector and retaining them, and professionalising the industry.”

Kevin Richardson, Chief Executive, CILT, said: ‘Beverley will be a very hard act to follow as she has been a great help to the Institute; but I cannot think of anyone better placed than Will to succeed her.'
