Trams to be included in London Underground map

31 May 2016/Categories: Industry News

The latest version of Transport for London's (TfL's) Tube map is going to include the city's tram services for the very first time.

Choosing to do this was based on a decision to make it easier for those travelling to Wimbledon, Croydon or Beckenham to plan out their journeys ahead of time.

Recently, London Trams has seen a 50 per cent increase in usage between Wimbledon and Croydon thanks to the installation of a new platform at Wimbledon station.

Other improvements have added to this upturn in people using the service, including four additional trams, which began running in February this year.

In total there are 34 trams operating across the network and service information has been added to the electronic service update boards at TfL stations throughout the city.

The new map shows where major upgrade works will be taking place throughout the Gospel Oak and Barking London Overground route - which is an essential part of Network Rail's Railway Upgrade Plan.
