AECOM has appointed Russell Jackson as Head of Rail – UK & Ireland and Continental Europe. Russell will be responsible for leading and growing AECOM’s rail business across the region. His appointment is the latest addition to the UK-based rail team, which was recently bolstered by Adrian Shaw’s transition from AECOM’s Middle East operations.
Russell joins AECOM from Atkins, where he worked in several senior roles, including most recently Director for Emerging Markets in the company’s transportation division and Regional Director West in the rail business. With more than 20 years’ experience in rail infrastructure management, Russell has led the delivery of major civil infrastructure, station upgrade, signalling, electrification and rail enhancement projects.
Adrian is head of rail for the Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMIA) region. With experience of managing some of the largest rail projects ever delivered in EMIA, his focus will be on expanding AECOM’s design, build, finance and operate (DBFO) capabilities. Adrian joined AECOM in 2013, bringing extensive experience of mega programme delivery from his previous roles at Qatar Rail and Bechtel. Prior to taking on his new role, Adrian led AECOM’s work on the Metro Jeddah programme in Saudi Arabia.
Paul McCormick, AECOM’s Managing Director – Transportation, UK & Ireland and Continental Europe, said: “With unprecedented opportunities in the rail sector, Russell and Adrian take on critical roles that will augment AECOM’s growth strategy in the region. Russell’s focus will be on growing our rail business as we look to take advantage of the large tranches of major programmes in the industry pipeline. Adrian’s unique experience of managing some of the region’s largest and most complex projects will help grow our DBFO offering.”
Russell will be a major contributor to Adrian's strategic team, providing detailed knowledge of the UK rail market to enhance the company’s EMIA offerings and proposals, whilst working within the UK, Ireland and Continental Europe transportation business under Paul McCormick. Adrian started his new role earlier this year and Russell joined AECOM in May.
