At the heart of the Dixons Carphone UK and Ireland Supply Chain is the Knowhow Newark Campus, the National Distribution Centre for the whole of the UK and Ireland. The 1.5M sq ft facility in Newark, Nottinghamshire opened in 2003.

The creation of the Newark Campus resulted from a step change in direction about stock holding, and the strategy to provide a mutli-channel offer to customers. Previously Dixons had operated a localised model with regional and local distribution centres across the UK and Ireland.

Following the merger Newark Campus has now completed the move of the Carphone Warehouse operation from Wednesbury. This required 12km new racking, 30km data cabling and 17,000 new storage locations. The centralised fulfilment model now services all the Currys, PC World and Carphone Warehouse stores and online customers, providing a full multi-channel supply chain and logistics solution for the business. Newark is also the home of the National Repair Centre and the Returns operation.

The site in Newark makes over 300,000 deliveries to stores and 8,000,000 customer home deliveries per year.

With over 3,500 colleagues across the campus and rising to 4,500 at Peak, Knowhow is the largest employer in the Newark area.
