XPO Logistics - one of the world’s biggest logistics companies - will serve as the official carrier for the 103rd Tour de France, marking the 36th consecutive year that the company has handled logistics duties for the event.
Some 53 drivers and 44 jumbo trucks will transport 22 tonnes of equipment for all 21 stages of the world famous cycle race, which covers 2,087 miles between 2nd-24th July.
They will be responsible for shifting the start and finish villages, safety barriers and advertising structures, while managing stock for the Tour de France shop along the route.
Hervé Montjotin, Europe CEO and president of XPO Logistics, said: “We’re delighted to continue our partnership with Le Tour and serve as the provider of choice for the ‘Caravane’ – the entire Tour retinue.
“As always, we are committed to delivering seamless support to one of the most prestigious sports events in the world.”
The Tour isn’t the only major sporting event on XPO’s books. The company also provides logistics for the Arctic Race of Norway, the Paris Marathon, the Freeride World Tour, the French Soccer Cup (Coupe de France) and the France Sailing Race (Tour de France à la Voile).
