Transport and logistics professionals from across Wales and beyond met in Wrexham last week for a focused session on commercial vehicle decarbonisation, delivered in partnership with Zemo and the Welsh Government. The event gave CILT(UK) members direct insight into the team shaping Wales’ commercial fleet transition and the practical steps operators will need to take in the coming years.

The discussion centred on real-world fleet challenges, including:

  • Curret commercial fleet emissions in Wales
  • Operational and cost barriers for freight, courier and public-sector fleets
  • Depot and hub infrastructure needs
  • Funding options and fleet-transition planning
  • The benefits of early adoption and cleaner operations

Members actively contributed, raising questions around technology readiness, timelines and operational pressures. The Wrexham event reinforced that decarbonisation is becoming a core operational priority across the UK. “This event was a fantastic opportunity for professionals across Wales to engage directly with the people shaping our commercial vehicle future. The level of discussion shows just how committed our community is to delivering practical, workable decarbonisation,” said Dr Andrew Potter, Chair of CILT Cymru Wales.

CILT(UK) will continue to support members through upcoming regional events, briefings and technical sessions, helping operators confidently navigate the commercial vehicle transition.
