E.ON renews contract with Whistl for a further three years and becomes the first utility to sign up to Whistl Fuel Carbon Calculator
Major energy provider E.ON has become the first utility to sign up to Whistl’s Fuel Carbon Calculator which enables them to calculate their reduced carbon emissions by choosing Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) rather than diesel for the collection and trunking of their bulk mail.
Whistl’s Fuel Carbon Calculator initiative was launched in August 2024 and is the first of its kind in the Downstream Access Bulk Mail market.
Both E.ON, which supplies one in seven residential and business addresses in the UK and plays a key role in Europe’s clean energy transition, and Whistl benefit from adopting HVO. Whistl reduces the CO2 it generates, and E.ON reduces its CO2 impact under Scope 3* reporting.
Mark Daniels, Commercial Director at E.ON , said: “Just as we are supporting our customers at home and in business to benefit from smarter energy use, we’re also doing what we can to make our own operations more efficient and sustainable. By adopting HVO with Whistl we can be reducing emissions while maintaining a regular flow of communication with our millions of customers across the UK.”
Ian Keilty, CEO, Whistl, said: “We are delighted that E.ON has renewed their contract and opted to embrace our innovative HVO solution, which supports their business strategy and enables them to reduce both their and Whistl’s carbon emissions. Innovation is key to meeting our Net Zero goal and we look forward to more customers and the environment benefiting from the use of the Whistl Carbon Calculator.”
