GXO Logistics will establish London Luton Airport's first consolidation centre, creating 150 employment opportunities as part of an £11.5 million refurbishment programme.
Under the contract, the logistics provider will manage hundreds of thousands of airside deliveries annually, screening goods destined for more than 40 shops and restaurants across the terminal. The facility will handle everything from fashion and cosmetics to consumer electronics and operational supplies.
London Luton Airport welcomed 17.5 million passengers in 2025, up from 16.7 million the previous year, driving increased demand for streamlined logistics operations. The consolidation centre will be housed in one of three hangars being repurposed alongside two new aircraft engineering and repair facilities.

GXO will implement STREAM, a bespoke IT system providing real-time tracking and performance monitoring. Concessionaires will benefit from 24/7 customer service support and improved delivery scheduling, including dynamic adjustments for multi-temperature goods during disruptions.
"We are excited to partner with London Luton Airport on its first consolidation centre," said Martin Cooper, Managing Director at GXO UK and Ireland. "As air travel continues to grow, consolidation centres play a pivotal role in driving efficiencies and improving sustainability for airport groups."
Neil Thompson, Chief Operations Officer at London Luton Airport, said the centre would provide "a smarter, more efficient and streamlined logistical approach" to managing deliveries.
London Luton Airport supports 28,000 jobs and contributes £830 million annually to the local economy. In 2024, the airport spent £110 million with more than 300 businesses within a 25-mile radius.
