Kate Fairbrother, Tesco

View their LinkedIn page here.

Bio:

I am 53 years old and have worked for Tesco for 34 years this year. All of this time has been within the distribution division.

I started with Tesco in 1989 as a clerk in a Fresh Distribution Centre. My career really continued through the admin and planning division for Distribution for 13 years.

Progression took me then into Personnel, following then by more Warehouse and Transport roles.

After moving then to a few other Distribution Centres for short term secondments, around 2010, I went on  Distribution Centre Manager training.

I then moved to Goole Depot as the Distribution Centre Manager for 2 years.

I moved to be the Distribution Centre Manager of Daventry Clothing for 3 years, then Lichfield Distribution Centre Manager for 3 years and am now currently the Distribution Centre Manager of Daventry Grocery Depot.

I have worked hard, always made sure I worked on relationships in my team and have enjoyed every job I have done.

I have only ever changed jobs if I could balance them with what my family needs were, so that I always knew I could give every job 100%. I didn’t progress until I was happy that I could manage this with my family commitments too. For me success in logistics has been very rewarding. The key to being successful has been, not frightened of getting stuck in, building relationships with all levels, and always being myself. Gaining the people leadership skills have helped me manage through people and my team in all the jobs I have done.
